Position Overview

The Housing Specialist (Female) will play a key role in ensuring the effective management, safety, and well-being of students residing in on-campus housing. This position ensures supervisory oversight, policy compliance, streamlining hostel operations, and handling complex student cases.

The Housing Specialist works closely with internal departments such as F&E, Campus Security, Student Res. Life, and Wellness Centre teams to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive residential environment. The role requires both operational competence and the ability to lead, guide, and support junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

Resident Support & Community Well-being

  • Act as a senior point of contact for complex student concerns related to housing, including escalated conflicts, emergencies, and disciplinary issues.
  • Promote and uphold university housing policies while fostering a respectful and inclusive hostel environment.
  • Support student wellness by coordinating with campus services such as the Counselling Centre, Health Services, and the Office of Student Affairs.

Operational Oversight

  • Oversee daily hostel operations across multiple residential halls, including inventory control and logistical planning for check-in/out processes.
  • Monitor and ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of facilities in coordination with housekeeping and maintenance teams.
  • Conduct regular inspections of hostel buildings to ensure safety, cleanliness, and functionality.

Safety, Discipline & Emergency Response

  • Enforce housing regulations related to noise, curfews, guest policies, fire safety, and illegal stays.
  • Lead the response to emergency incidents and coordinate evacuation protocols, fire drills, and incident reporting.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of disciplinary cases, safety concerns, and resident incidents.

Team Supervision & Staff Support

  • Provide guidance and day-to-day supervision to Housing Officers and support staff across assigned blocks.
  • Assist in onboarding, mentoring, and training new Housing Officers on operational procedures and university policies.
  • Monitor staff performance and support a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Coordination & Reporting

  • Collaborate with Facilities, Security, Student Life, and other departments to ensure seamless hostel operations and timely resolution of resident issues.
  • Liaise with Floor Advisors (FAs) and student leaders to support community-building activities and feedback mechanisms.
  • Prepare and submit routine reports (daily, weekly, and monthly) on hostel occupancy, incidents, maintenance status, and operational challenges.

Qualifications
  • At least a Master's degree in a relevant administrative field from an HEC recognised institute.
Experience
  • At least 3 years of relevant working experience in student housing, operations, student affairs in a supervisory role.
