Position Overview

The Office of the Dean at the Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences (MGSHSS) is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Communications Associate to strengthen our internal and external outreach efforts. This individual will play a key role in crafting compelling multimedia and written materials, managing our brand presence, and supporting events and campaigns that elevate the school’s profile.

Key Responsibilities

Content Development & Management

  • Assist in creating a variety of communication assets—including social media posts, newsletters, brochures, and web content.
  • Proofread and edit content to ensure consistency in tone and brand guidelines.
  • Format and finalise text and multimedia deliverables for both digital and print channels.

Merchandise & Souvenir Programs

  • Collaborate with team members to design and produce on-trend souvenirs and branded merchandise.
  • Develop marketing concepts for merchandise launches, track sales data, and prepare future demand projections.

Event Coordination

  • Support planning and logistics for school events, liaising with internal stakeholders (faculty, staff) and external vendors to ensure seamless execution.

Social Media Strategy & Engagement

  • Manage MGSHSS social media channels by implementing approved content calendars and growth strategies.
  • Monitor and respond promptly to inquiries via direct messages and comments, maintaining a professional and on-brand voice. 

Brand Equity & Campaigns

  • Assist in crafting integrated online and offline campaigns to bolster the MGSHSS brand.
  • Ensure all communications comply with the School’s data and information protocols.
  • Assist other team members in aligning with the Office of Advancement to coordinate cross-departmental initiatives and execute broader campaigns.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail in both written and visual communication.
  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to see and articulate the “big picture.”
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills for working with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Initiative and adaptability in a fast-paced academic environment.

Desirable (But Not Mandatory)

  • Basic proficiency in graphic design (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite & Canva) and multimedia production.
  • Previous experience in planning and executing social media campaigns.

Qualifications
  • At least a Bachelor’s (Hons) degree in Communications, Media Studies, Arts, or a related field is preferred.
Experience
  • Fresh candidates are encouraged to apply. However, candidates with prior experience in communications, creative services, or advertising will be preferred.
