Position Overview

This role is responsible for designing, developing, supporting, and continuously improving enterprise software systems and integrations that power the university’s student information ecosystem.

The Software Engineer will work across multiple systems — including ERP platforms (such as PeopleSoft Campus Solutions), scheduling systems (e.g., UniTime), and custom-built applications — to build scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions. The focus of this role is on software engineering, system integration, automation, and data-driven process improvement, rather than dependency on any single platform.

The incumbent will collaborate with Registrar’s Office stakeholders, IST teams, and external partners to translate business needs into robust technical solutions that enhance academic and administrative operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable software solutions, integrations, and automation workflows across enterprise systems.
  • Build and support system integrations (APIs, services, batch processes) between ERP, scheduling systems, and other institutional platforms.
  • Provide reliable production support, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for system issues, ensuring service continuity and stability.
  • Translate business requirements into technical designs, system enhancements, reports, and process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain backend processes, data pipelines, reports, and automation scripts using SQL, APIs, and enterprise tools.
  • Contribute to system architecture decisions, ensuring scalability, performance optimisation, and long-term maintainability.
  • Ensure code quality through testing, documentation, version control, and adherence to secure development practices.
  • Support and enhance ERP/SIS platforms (including PeopleSoft Campus Solutions) as part of the broader system landscape.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver enhancements aligned with academic cycles and operational priorities. · Participate in system upgrades, integration improvements, and digital transformation initiatives within the Registrar’s Office.
  • Participate in system upgrades, integration improvements, and digital transformation initiatives within the Registrar’s Office.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals (data structures, system design, debugging, performance optimisation).
  • Proficiency in SQL and relational databases (preferably Oracle or similar).
  • Experience in backend development, APIs, system integrations, or enterprise application development.
  • Understanding of enterprise system architectures, data flows, and integration patterns.
  • Familiarity with ERP/SIS environments (e.g., PeopleSoft Campus Solutions) is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to translate functional/business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle, version control, testing, and secure coding practices.
  • Exposure to automation, batch processing, reporting systems, or data pipelines is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and stakeholder communication skills.
Behaviours
  • Ownership mindset with strong accountability for system reliability and delivery.
  • Solution-oriented and proactive in identifying and resolving issues.
  • Detail-oriented with commitment to quality, security, and data integrity.
  • Collaborative and able to work effectively across technical and functional teams.
  • Adaptable to changing priorities, academic timelines, and operational demands.
  • Continuous learner with interest in modern engineering practices and tools.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a related field from an HEC-recognised university. Preference will be given to candidates having certifications or training in enterprise systems, databases, or cloud technologies.

Experience

At least 3 years of experience in software development, system integration, enterprise application support, or backend engineering. Candidates with prior experience working with ERP/SIS platforms such as PeopleSoft, higher education systems such as UniTime, or academic operations will be preferred.
