The Application Scientist supports the Physics Department in delivering advanced laboratory instruction and developing modern experimental content for laboratory-based courses, including PHY 300/500. The role contributes to the design, development, modernisation, and maintenance of experimental setups and laboratory infrastructure while supporting innovation in experimental physics education through collaboration with faculty, technical staff, and students.

Laboratory Instruction

• Deliver and manage advanced laboratory courses, including PHY 300/500, ensuring effective instruction and student engagement.
• Provide technical and hands-on guidance to students during laboratory sessions to strengthen experimental and analytical skills.

Experiment Design, Development & Modernisation

• Design, develop, test, and upgrade physics experiments aligned with curriculum requirements and modern experimental practices.
• Integrate advanced instrumentation, optical systems, sensors, automation tools, electronics, and data acquisition technologies into laboratory experiments.
• Modernize and revive legacy or discontinued experiments using contemporary instrumentation and experimental techniques.
• Ensure experiments are pedagogically effective, technically reliable, and aligned with current teaching objectives.

Laboratory Operations & Management

• Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, instrumentation, and experimental systems.
• Support the operation of specialised experimental platforms, including optical and quantum systems where applicable.
• Assist in laboratory resource management, including procurement, inventory tracking, maintenance scheduling, and safety compliance. 

Documentation & Academic Support

• Prepare and update laboratory manuals, instructional materials, technical documentation, and troubleshooting guidelines.
• Maintain records of experimental setups, procedures, and laboratory activities.
• Support laboratory-based research activities, workshops, and grant-funded educational initiatives. 

Student Support & Collaboration

• Provide mentorship and technical support to students involved in laboratory projects, research, and independent studies.
• Collaborate with faculty members, instructors, and technical staff to support teaching and departmental initiatives.

• Strong knowledge of experimental physics, instrumentation, and laboratory systems.
• Proficiency in laboratory experiment design, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with automation tools, sensors, data acquisition systems, and laboratory electronics.
• Understanding of optical systems, quantum experimental platforms, and FPGA programming.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering, Quantum Systems, or a related field from an HEC-recognized institution.

• At least 01 to 02 years of relevant experience in laboratory instruction, experimental physics, instrumentation, or laboratory development.
