Position Overview

The Grants and Projects Associate supports the Centre for Business and Society (CBS) in strengthening its research and outreach impact through effective grant acquisition, project coordination, and stakeholder engagement. The role exists to identify and pursue funding opportunities, develop competitive proposals, and ensure smooth execution of CBS initiatives aligned with LUMS’ strategic objectives and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By ensuring efficient grant management and programme planning, delivery and monitoring of CBS programmes, the position contributes directly to the Centre’s visibility, growth, and impact. 

 

Key Responsibilities
  1. Identify and track national and international funding opportunities aligned with CBS’s thematic priorities.
  2. Develop and coordinate Expressions of Interest (EOIs), proposals, budgets, and related documentation in collaboration with faculty and the LUMS Office of Research.
  3. Manage the full grant cycle, from concept development and submission to award, reporting, and compliance.
  4. Support the implementation of CBS projects, student engagement programmes, and outreach events.
  5. Liaise with donors, partners, and internal stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and resource mobilisation.
  6. Supervise interns or volunteers and contribute to CBS communications, reports, and publications as needed.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong writing and communication skills for grant and proposal development.
  • Research and analytical skills for identifying and interpreting funding opportunities.
  • Project management and coordination abilities, including time management and multitasking.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with database or portal systems (e.g., GAMES).
  • Stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to meet tight deadlines.

Qualifications
  • At least a Bachelor’s (Hons) or Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Business Administration, or a related discipline from a recognised institution.
Experience
  • At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in grant writing, project coordination, or donor-funded programmes.
  • Prior experience in an academic, research, or development organisation preferred.
  • Familiarity with grant cycles, proposal development, and alignment with SDG-related initiatives is an advantage.
