Position Overview

The position will serve to operationalise OAI’s commitment to providing support to students with disabilities in accordance with LUMS and HEC’s policies, and liaison with stakeholders across campus to ensure smooth implementation of the accessibility policies, supporting students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take a leadership role in developing, implementing, reviewing, and revising practices, services, policies, and strategic initiatives related to Academic Accommodations, Accessibility, and Disability Inclusion across LUMS.
  • Provide institutional leadership in advancing an inclusive disability culture at LUMS by identifying systemic barriers, proposing evidence-based interventions, and contributing to the university’s broader accessibility and inclusion agenda.
  • Lead and collaborate with team members and other departments to devise and implement plans that create a more accessible and inclusive experience for students, faculty, and staff across the university.
  • Oversee coordination between students, OAI, the Accessibility Committee, and facilitators supporting students/employees with disabilities.
  • Conduct and support research initiatives related to disability inclusion, accessibility practices, assistive technologies, and campus climate to inform policy development and enhance institutional practices.
  • Assess, monitor, and improve the overall disability climate at LUMS through data-driven evaluations, stakeholder engagement, benchmarking of best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare, maintain, and update website material and communication resources related to accessibility and accommodations.
  • In consultation with the Director, develop and implement quality-based assessment processes to evaluate and improve the Academic Accommodation program and related services.
  • Design and incorporate technological innovations, assistive technologies, and process enhancements in support of Academic Accommodation and accessibility services.
  • Maintain records of interactions with students with disabilities and analyse the effectiveness of accommodations; compile reports and analyse data related to accommodations, compliance, accessibility outcomes, and program efficacy.
  • Collect and maintain institutional data to evaluate and measure program impact, identify trends, and guide strategic decision-making. Review emerging assistive technologies and research, with a particular focus on learning alternatives and accessibility solutions for students with disabilities.
  • Develop and deliver awareness campaigns, workshops, and mandatory trainings across the LUMS community to strengthen disability awareness, build capacity, and foster an environment where everyone feels safe, welcomed, and supported.
  • Represent and advocate for accessibility and disability inclusion initiatives within relevant university committees, forums, and institutional activities as required.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Director.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Good understanding of general-purpose and specialised LLM-based AI tools
  • MS Office Suite: Excellent command of the core functions of MS Office and Google productivity suites
  • Research Fundamentals: Grasp of concepts and techniques in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
  • Communication: Ability to convey information clearly and effectively in both written (English and Urdu) and spoken forms.
  • Time Management and Organisation: Capacity to plan activities, meet deadlines, and keep work structured.
  • Interpersonal Communication: Collaborating effectively with others, including building relationships and resolving conflicts.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s(hons) or Master’s degree in a relevant field of study, preferably education, psychology, or social sciences.

Experience
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience (academic/learning-related roles) in educational contexts.
  • Experience with inclusive pedagogy, learning design, supporting (differently abled) students in mainstream education institutions, working with diverse stakeholders, ideally in the Higher Education context.
