Position Overview

The Financial Aid Specialist is responsible for managing and executing the financial aid process, ensuring accurate assessment, documentation, and communication of student funding decisions. The role requires strong analytical and communication skills, attention to detail, and effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to support institutional policies for equitable aid allocation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and assess financial aid applications, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with institutional policies.
  • Provide guidance to students regarding available funding options, payment plans, and financial estimates.
  • Counsel students and parents on financial aid policies, documentation requirements, and procedural timelines.
  • Conduct interviews and verification assessments with students and parents to establish financial need.
  • Undertake field verifications or special case reviews as required, including on-site assessments within Pakistan.
  • Prepare comprehensive case summaries and present recommendations for Financial Aid Committee reviews.
  • Support the coordination of Committee meetings, including case preparation, documentation, and minutes.
  • Communicate financial aid decisions clearly and empathetically to students and parents, ensuring proper understanding and next steps.
  • Monitor students’ academic progress for financial aid renewal and compliance with satisfactory academic performance criteria.
  • Maintain accurate records of aid disbursements, adjustments, and case histories in the student management system.
  • Administer assigned internal and external scholarship programmes, ensuring compliance with donor or institutional guidelines.
  • Coordinate with other university offices, including Admissions, Finance, and the Registrar’s Office, for information sharing and case resolution.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, system enhancements, and data reporting for management analysis.
  • Serve as a liaison with the Office of Advancement to ensure financial aid-related information on all platforms is current and consistent.
  • Handle student and stakeholder queries in person and via email with professionalism and empathy.
  • Perform other related duties, consistent with the scope and level of the position, as assigned by the Line Manager or Head of Department.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and case assessment skills.
  • Excellent communication (in both Urdu & English) and counselling abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and student data management systems.
  • Sound understanding of financial aid policies, institutional regulations, and funding mechanisms.
  • Familiarity with LUMS academic programmes and administrative procedures.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under deadlines.
  • Customer service orientation and confidentiality in data handling.

Qualifications
  • BS(Hons) degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences, Education, or a related discipline from an HEC-recognized institution  
Experience
  • Minimum 03 years of relevant experience in financial aid administration, student services, admissions, scholarships, education administration, or a similar role. 
  • Experience in financial assessment, case management, stakeholder engagement, and data management is preferred.
