Job Purpose

The Specialist – Financial Reporting will play a key role in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting for funded research projects. The incumbent will support the financial management lifecycle from project initiation to closeout, collaborating closely with Principal Investigators (PIs), research administrators, and funding agencies.

Job Description

  • Prepare periodic final financial reports for research grants in accordance with donor requirements and institutional policies.
  • Ensure timely submission of financial reports to funding agencies.
  • Review and reconcile expenditures against project budgets and grants terms.
  • Prepare budget utilization report and ensure timely reporting.
  • Maintain financial documentation and audit trails in accordance with compliance standards.
  • Liaise with donors, auditors, and internal departments for grant-related audits, queries, or clarifications.
  • Advise researchers on allowable costs, cost-sharing, and budget compliance.
  • Track budget revisions, extensions, and reallocations; support budget amendments where required
  • Coordinate with internal departments for smooth processing of grant-related transactions.
  • Provide support in responding to donor queries and audit requirements.
  • Ensure accurate recording of project transactions and timely posting in the system.
  • Generate periodic internal reports for grant monitoring and management.
  • Develop SOPs and documentation templates for standardized financial reporting.

Qualification

ACCA / Master’s degree in Accounting or Management Studies

Experience

  • 3-4 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Familiarity with donor requirements (e.g., USAID, HEC, World Bank, EU) and financial compliance frameworks.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred), MS Excel, and financial reporting tools .
