Position Overview

The Digital Content Specialist (Social Media) is responsible for executing LUMS’ social media strategy across multiple platforms and managing the relationship with the external digital agency. The role focuses on coordinating daily social media operations, ensuring timely and accurate publishing, monitoring audience engagement, and maintaining brand consistency across all digital channels. The Specialist acts as a bridge between the internal communications team and external agency partners to ensure that all social media activities align with LUMS’ communication goals and brand identity.

Key Responsibilities

1. Social Media Management and Execution

  • Oversee day-to-day execution of LUMS’ social media plan under the guidance of Head of Marketing.
  • Manage posting schedules and ensure timely publishing of approved content across all platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, YouTube).
  • Review and ensure all agency-produced content (copy, visuals, and videos) aligns with LUMS’ tone, guidelines, and objectives before publication.
  • Maintain the content calendar and coordinate internal approvals as required.

2. Agency Coordination

  • Act as the primary liaison between LUMS and the social media/digital content agency.
  • Communicate briefs, campaign requirements, and creative directions clearly to the agency.
  • Track deliverables, timelines, and performance, ensuring agency output meets expected quality and brand standards.
  • Provide feedback and approvals in coordination with the Digital Media Lead and other stakeholders.

3. Campaign and Event Support

  • Coordinate with departments to gather inputs, event details, and highlights for social media coverage.
  • Support campaign execution for admissions, events, research highlights, and community initiatives by aligning agency efforts with institutional goals.
  • Assist in real-time coverage of events when needed (posting updates, stories, or coordinating agency live coverage).

4. Monitoring, Analytics, and Reporting

  • Monitor LUMS’ social media platforms for engagement, audience sentiment, and emerging trends.
  • Compile weekly and monthly reports on social media performance, including key metrics and insights.
  • Track competitor institutions’ social media presence and identify areas for improvement.
  • Highlight content opportunities, audience feedback, and trending topics.

5. Brand Governance and Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all social media content adheres to LUMS’ brand identity, visual standards, and messaging guidelines.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong understanding of major social media platforms and their best practices.
  • Proficiency with social media management tools (Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite, etc.).
  • Ability to analyse and interpret social media metrics and reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a sharp editorial sense.
  • Familiarity with SEO, paid social campaigns, and digital analytics is a plus.

Qualifications
  • At least a Master’s or Bachelor’s (Hons) degree from an accredited university.
Experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in social media coordination, digital marketing, or content management.

  • Experience managing or working closely with creative or digital agencies preferred.

  • Exposure to higher education, nonprofit, or corporate brand environments is an advantage.
